About the position

We are seeking dedicated Legal Assistants to join our personal injury (PI) and workers' compensation (WC) law firm located in Atlanta, GA. With over 37 years of experience, our firm has built a reputation for providing high-quality legal services to individuals and families who have suffered serious injuries or death. Our team consists of more than 43 attorneys and 100 staff members who are committed to advocating for our clients' rights and ensuring they receive the compensation they deserve. This position offers a competitive salary range of $55,000 to $85,000 per year, along with a comprehensive benefits package and aggressive bonuses. As a Legal Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our attorneys by managing various aspects of case preparation and client communication. Your responsibilities will include obtaining claim information and authorizations from clients, filing claims with the State Board, verifying all parties involved in claims, and requesting and obtaining medical records. You will also draft and submit Letters of Representation, conduct weekly case management for clients, and prepare court documents for filing. This position requires a high degree of initiative and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for candidates with at least 2-5 years of experience in workers' compensation or personal injury law, and paralegal certification is a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a typing speed of over 60 words per minute are essential. The ideal candidate will exhibit excellent judgment and decision-making skills, as well as the ability to handle a high volume of work accurately and on time. Responsibilities

  • Obtain claim information and authorizations from clients.
  • Ascertain issues in dispute under the direction of the attorney.
  • File claims with the State Board.
  • Verify all parties to the claim.
  • Request and obtain client's medical records and copy of insurer's file.
  • Draft and submit all Letters of Representation to all parties.
  • Conduct weekly case management for all clients.
  • Submit client's mileage, prescription, or any other reimbursement request to the insurance carrier.
  • File Requests for Hearings and appeals under the direction of the attorney.
  • Contact claimant's adjuster/opposing counsel regarding treatment and prescription approvals.
  • Prepare and submit Discovery to claims adjuster/opposing counsel.
  • Create and maintain attorney's calendar.
  • Maintain tickle response for hearings, mediations, and depositions.
  • Prepare court documents for filing, notices, briefs, demands, and settlement paperwork.
  • Maintain client files from the time of representation to the settlement of the claim.

Requirements

  • At least 2-5 years of workers' compensation or personal injury paralegal/legal assistant experience.
  • Paralegal certification is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Typing speed over 60 WPM.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, detail-oriented work environment.
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to handle a high volume of work accurately and on time.
