About the position

The Workers Compensation Adjuster II position at Builders Mutual involves managing complex lost time claims with a focus on customer service and effective resolution. The role requires a seasoned adjuster to handle all aspects of claims from investigation to settlement, ensuring compliance with best practices and company standards. This remote position allows for collaboration with team members while also requiring occasional travel to the Raleigh office for meetings and events.

Responsibilities

  • Handle all aspects of investigation and settlement of assigned claims, including interviewing insureds, claimants, witnesses, and physicians.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations regarding coverage of claims; determine liability and total value of claims.
  • Negotiate settlements and make recommendations regarding litigation.
  • Oversee litigated claims and manage litigation expenses within budget.
  • Monitor and adhere to periodic claim file diaries; create a written plan of action for ongoing claim management.
  • Interact regularly with agents/brokers, insureds, Risk Management, and Underwriting Department.
  • Ensure timely and independent compliance with all management directives and performance management standards.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending Builders Mutual sponsored training classes and participating in industry conferences and seminars.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of workers compensation litigated and lost time claims handling experience for Virginia.
  • NC or reciprocal state adjuster license required; other licenses in our footprint are a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in the use and knowledge of MS Office software; knowledge of policy processing and imaging systems.
  • Valid driver's license is required for occasional business travel.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
