About the position

Optimal Inc. is seeking an experienced Workers Compensation Analyst to join our team at an automotive plant in Claycomo, MO. This role is crucial for ensuring quality claims handling and effective loss cost management within the workers' compensation framework. The position will involve a hybrid work schedule, allowing for flexibility in work arrangements. As a Workers Compensation Claims Handler, you will be responsible for managing claims from inception to resolution, focusing on delivering excellent customer service and maintaining high standards of claims processing. In this role, you will set up and enter new claims into the claims management system, ensuring that all claim coding is accurate and that files are thoroughly documented. You will perform critical technical tasks related to claims, including conducting plant investigations and making three-point contacts. Your responsibilities will also include interviewing claimants, employers, medical professionals, legal counsel, and witnesses to prepare comprehensive investigation summaries. You will assist in managing all elements of claim files to help reduce or maintain medical costs, lost time duration, and litigation expenses. Collaboration is key in this position, as you will participate in case management meetings and work closely with medical, human resources, and labor teams to facilitate effective return-to-work plans for employees. Additionally, you will support other claim representatives with larger or more complex claims as needed, and process medical and related expense payments. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills to interpret and analyze complex information, along with excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. You will need to be organized, able to prioritize your workload, and manage multiple priorities effectively while maintaining professional client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and enter new claims into the claims management system, ensuring claim coding is correct and files are properly documented.
  • Perform critical claim technical tasks including plant investigations and 3-point contacts.
  • Interview claimants, employers, medical professionals, legal counsel, and witnesses and prepare thorough investigation summaries.
  • Prepare files for outside counsel.
  • Assist in management of all elements of claim files to reduce or maintain medical costs, lost time duration, and litigation expenses.
  • Participate in case management meetings and collaborate with medical, human resources, and labor to facilitate a return-to-work plan for workers compensation and related absences.
  • Support other claim representatives with larger or more complex claims as necessary.
  • Process medical and related expense payments.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of related Workers Compensation experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule
