About the position

The Workers' Compensation Analyst/Return to Work Program Coordinator at UCSF Health is responsible for managing the transitional work and case management program related to Workers' Compensation. This role involves facilitating return-to-work efforts by collaborating with employees, departments, medical providers, and external partners. The analyst also provides training and resources regarding Workers' Compensation benefits and ensures compliance with state and federal laws. Additionally, this position serves as a backup for the Workers' Comp/Ergonomics Analyst 2 and department manager as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all aspects of the transitional work and case management program for UCSF Health Workers' Compensation.
  • Facilitate return-to-work efforts by communicating effectively with employees, departments, medical providers, and external partners.
  • Provide resources and training to managers and employees regarding Workers' Compensation benefits and processes.
  • Collaborate with Occupational Health Services, Ergonomics, Disability Management Services, HR Leaves of Absence, and department leaders to facilitate the return-to-work process.
  • Uphold compliance standards with state and federal laws and university policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalent workers' compensation experience/training.
  • Five (5) years of California Workers' Compensation, HR experience, or claims administration or case management experience.
  • Experience working with diverse populations who may be in crisis and/or needing time.
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) including delivery of group presentations.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service during challenging situations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer, and Outlook.
  • Experienced with data analysis and metrics tracking.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively and diplomatically.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior medical/hospital work experience.
  • Experience working with HIPAA protected information and knowledge of medical terminology.
