About the position

The Workers' Compensation Analyst is responsible for managing the workers' compensation claims process, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness. This role involves strategy development, risk analysis, and facilitating claims closure through effective communication with various stakeholders. The analyst will also assist in day-to-day claims handling and provide insights through management reports.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct day-to-day claims administration to investigate and manage claims.
  • Assist with the preparation of executive-ready management reports including claims administration performance and cost savings.
  • Establish interface guidelines and communication channels between all parties, including the claims office, managed care nurses, operations, and supervisors.
  • Partner with safety and risk control to help identify adverse trends, mitigate exposures, and educate management.
  • Ensure proper Medicare reporting on behalf of the organization.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are in compliance with changing regulations as they pertain to the business.
  • Control costs through implementation and oversight of the medical cost containment program as it pertains to initial treatment facilities, physical therapy, durable medical equipment, diagnostics, and pharmacy benefits.
  • Monitor workers' compensation claims for modified duty potential, pursue modified work release from physicians, and work with restaurant managers and human resources to establish job assignments.
  • Access and interpret data from multiple internal and external databases.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience in the claims industry, including workers' compensation experience with understanding of laws, acts, regulations, and systems governing workers' compensation.
  • Strong computer and analytical skills, with the ability to exercise self-direction and initiative, and make decisions in a fast-paced changing work environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to realize company cost-containment opportunities.
  • Proven ability for team participation including ability to implement efficient work processes, problem prevention identification, and resolution skills.
  • Flexibility for meeting multiple demands and ability to utilize an effective time management planning process.
