About the position

The Workers' Compensation Compliance Analyst 1/2 position at the Office of Workers' Compensation in Baton Rouge, LA, is a vital role responsible for ensuring compliance with the statutes governing the workers' compensation claim filing process. This position may be filled as either a Probational or a Job Appointment, and it offers opportunities for advancement within the Career Progression Group (CPG). The selected candidate will work closely under the supervision of a Workers' Compensation Compliance Supervisor or a higher-level administrator, performing entry-level tasks that are crucial for the effective regulation and enforcement of compliance standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong competencies in ethics and integrity, making accurate judgments, and managing resources effectively. The role involves monitoring the workers' compensation claim filing process to ensure adherence to regulations and procedures, as well as maintaining confidentiality in document-related services. The analyst will be responsible for reviewing computer reports to identify delinquent claims and initiating collection activities as necessary. In addition to monitoring compliance, the analyst will collect, compile, edit, and sort statewide workers' compensation claim forms, both in hard copy and electronic formats. They will analyze these forms to determine the appropriate North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) codes and assess discrepancies in claims submitted by insurance companies. The position also requires conferring with individuals regarding non-compliance issues and providing technical assistance and training to various stakeholders, including employers, insurance carriers, attorneys, and employees regarding court claim forms.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the workers' compensation claim filing process for compliance with regulations and procedures.
  • Provide and maintain confidential document-related services.
  • Review computer reports to discover delinquent claims and initiate collection activities.
  • Collect, compile, edit, and sort statewide workers' compensation claim forms in hard copy and electronic form.
  • Analyze workers' compensation claim forms to determine proper NAICS codes.
  • Assess discrepancies in insurance company submitted claims and review calculations of benefit payments.
  • Make adjustments to correct workers' compensation benefit payments as needed.
  • Confer and correspond with individuals regarding non-compliance issues and advise on necessary adjustments for approval.
  • Provide consultation to information system teams for system requirements and enhancements.
  • Provide technical assistance and training to employers, insurance carriers, attorneys, and employees regarding court claim forms.

Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Six years of full-time work experience in any field may substitute for the required degree.
  • Candidates may combine work experience and college credit to substitute for the degree, with specific credit hour requirements outlined.
