About the position

Under the general direction of the Presiding Workers' Compensation Judge and the Supervising Workers' Compensation Consultant, the Workers' Compensation Consultant (WCC) assists parties, whether represented by counsel or not, by providing general public information concerning workers' compensation benefits and procedures. This posting may be used to fill future vacancies in accordance with 2 CCR §249.3. To be considered for this Workers Compensation Consultant job opportunity, applicants must be either reachable on an employment list, have transfer eligibility or have reinstatement eligibility. The Staff Services Analyst classification is being appropriated for this position. If you have list eligibility as a Staff Services Analyst, it will be used to hire you as a Workers' Compensation Assistant. Candidates with Staff Services Analyst eligibility must meet the minimum qualifications for both Staff Services Analyst and Workers' Compensation Assistant.

Responsibilities

  • Assist parties by providing general public information concerning workers' compensation benefits and procedures.
  • Work under the direction of the Presiding Workers' Compensation Judge and the Supervising Workers' Compensation Consultant.

Requirements

  • Must be reachable on an employment list, have transfer eligibility, or have reinstatement eligibility.
  • Must meet the minimum qualifications for both Staff Services Analyst and Workers' Compensation Assistant.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of the California Workers' Compensation System and Appeals Board.
  • Knowledge of Workers' Compensation Laws of California (Labor Code), regulations, and leading court decisions relating to workers' compensation coverage.
  • Knowledge of Workers' compensation claims adjusting.
  • Knowledge of medical and anatomical terminology; Medical Treatment Utilization Schedule (MTUS) or other evidenced-based medical treatment guidelines.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and other software applications.
