About the position

The Workers' Compensation Consultant (WCC) plays a crucial role in assisting individuals with inquiries related to workers' compensation benefits and procedures. Under the guidance of the Presiding Workers' Compensation Judge and the Supervising Workers' Compensation Consultant, the WCC provides essential information to both represented and unrepresented parties, ensuring they understand their rights and the processes involved in workers' compensation claims. This position is vital for promoting awareness and facilitating access to benefits for injured workers in California.

Responsibilities

• Assist parties with inquiries regarding workers' compensation benefits and procedures.
• Provide general public information concerning workers' compensation.
• Support individuals whether they are represented by counsel or not.
• Collect, analyze, and organize documents and information related to claims.
• Communicate effectively with individuals to explain technical or legal matters.
• Maintain effective interpersonal relationships, especially with frustrated individuals.

Requirements

• Knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of the California Workers' Compensation System.
• Understanding of Workers' Compensation Laws of California (Labor Code) and related regulations.
• Experience in workers' compensation claims adjusting.
• Familiarity with medical and anatomical terminology and treatment guidelines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
