About the position

AmTrust Financial Services, Inc. is seeking an in-house paralegal to join our litigation department in the Cleveland office, specifically focusing on e-discovery. This role is critical in supporting our legal team by managing the e-discovery process in response to subpoenas and other legal matters. The successful candidate will be responsible for researching and analyzing legal sources, including statutes and judicial decisions, to effectively respond to subpoenas served upon any entity within the AmTrust group of companies. In this position, you will collect, review, redact, categorize, and produce documents using AmTrust's in-house e-discovery platform. Effective communication is essential, as you will interact with clients, witnesses, adversaries, and team members to address the e-discovery needs of AmTrust. You will be expected to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-oriented environment while handling confidential information with discretion. Maintaining data integrity within our computer platform is also a key responsibility. Additionally, you will support multiple attorneys and non-attorneys across various aspects of AmTrust's business, including responding to subpoenas, litigation discovery requests, internal investigations, regulatory and compliance matters, special investigations, and corporate due diligence. Staying current with market trends and demands is crucial, and you may be assigned other functionally related duties as needed. This position offers a dynamic work environment where you will be an integral part of the litigation department, contributing to the overall success of AmTrust's legal operations.

Responsibilities

  • Research and analyze law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, and legal articles to respond to subpoenas.
  • Collect, review, redact, categorize (e-tag), and produce documents using AmTrust's in-house e-discovery platform.
  • Communicate with clients, witnesses, adversaries, and team members regarding e-discovery needs.
  • Interact with personnel at all levels within the company as a member of the litigation department.
  • Manage multiple priorities in a deadline-oriented setting.
  • Handle confidential information discreetly and maintain data integrity in the computer platform.
  • Support multiple attorneys and non-attorneys across various facets of AmTrust's business.
  • Stay current with market trends and demands.
  • Perform other functionally related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience as a paralegal.
  • Formal paralegal certificate.
  • 1+ year demonstrated experience in litigation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with document review and production.
  • Basic understanding of rules concerning responding to discovery requests generated as part of litigations.
  • Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task required.
  • 3+ years of experience with an e-discovery system in connection with litigation.
