About the position

AmTrust Financial Services, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and experienced Workers' Compensation Paralegal II to join our legal team in Florida. This position is essential for supporting our in-house legal counsel in managing workers' compensation cases. The role is hybrid, allowing for work from our Boca Raton or Maitland offices, providing flexibility while ensuring that our legal operations run smoothly. As a Paralegal II, you will be responsible for conducting thorough research and analysis of legal sources, including statutes and judicial decisions, to prepare various legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, motions, and appeals. Your expertise will be crucial in compiling and drafting discovery responses and complex motions, as well as assisting in trial preparations, which include organizing trial notebooks, exhibits, subpoenas, and coordinating witnesses. In this role, you will communicate effectively with clients, witnesses, adversaries, and court personnel, ensuring that all parties are informed and engaged throughout the legal process. You will be expected to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment while maintaining confidentiality and data integrity in our computer systems. Supporting multiple attorneys in the defense of workers' compensation cases will require you to demonstrate superior interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently while multitasking effectively. Responsibilities

• Research and analyze law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, and legal articles to prepare legal documents including briefs, pleadings, motions, and appeals.
• Compile and prepare draft discovery responses.
• Draft complex motions.
• Assist in the preparation for trials, including trial notebooks, exhibits, subpoenas, and witness coordination.
• Communicate with clients, witnesses, adversaries, court, and team members.
• Interact with people of all levels of the company as a member of the legal team.
• Manage multiple priorities in a deadline-oriented setting.
• Handle confidential information in a discreet manner.
• Manage and prioritize completing deadlines.
• Maintain data integrity in the computer platform.
• Support multiple attorneys in the defense of workers' compensation cases.

Requirements

• Formal paralegal certificate.
• 5 or more years of experience as a paralegal.
• FL Workers' Compensation experience preferred.
• 3 years demonstrated experience in defense litigation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently and multi-task.
