About the position

The Workforce Career Coach at El Barrio The Centers plays a crucial role in supporting underserved job seekers in Cleveland by providing personalized coaching and job readiness training. This position focuses on assessing barriers to employment, facilitating job placements, and offering ongoing support to ensure job seekers achieve success in their careers. The coach will work both virtually and in-person, utilizing culturally competent methods to empower individuals and families to reach their full potential.

Responsibilities

• Conduct interviews with job seekers to assess barriers to employment and develop individual service plans for successful job placement.
• Assist job seekers with referral information and follow up regularly on their progress in resolving employment barriers.
• Monitor attendance and maintain case note reporting through a database management system.
• Meet with job seekers daily to provide effective job leads and support their job search activities, including revising resumes and cover letters.
• Attend and lead or assist with assigned workshops.
• Represent El Barrio with ethics, poise, enthusiasm, and professionalism in all interactions.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent with 5 years of experience in workforce development required.
• Bachelor's degree in a related area preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience working with job seekers facing employment challenges.
• Demonstrated experience with electronic platforms, including Microsoft software, internet, databases, and virtual learning platforms.
• Bilingual in oral and written English and Spanish is a plus.
