About the position

The Career Coach serves as the primary point of contact for participants in the Eckerd Connects Workforce Development program. This role is essential in meeting regulatory requirements for eligibility, participation, and follow-up services, ensuring that all service needs and activities are documented according to established data-management procedures. The Career Coach is responsible for guiding participants through their employment journey, which includes recruitment for the program, seeking employment and educational opportunities, and conducting community activities that promote participant development. This position requires a proactive approach to identify and recruit both clients and employers, fostering relationships that enhance the program's success. In addition to participant engagement, the Career Coach will deliver skills training in various areas, including software applications, work readiness skills, and basic remedial skills in math and reading. Developing presentation and facilitation skills is crucial for effectively engaging students and meeting program goals. The role also involves job development, which includes frequent connections with employers and community organizations to market the program and support participant success. The Career Coach plays a vital role in creating a supportive environment that empowers participants to achieve their career aspirations and navigate the workforce effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for participants and their support networks.
  • Meet regulatory requirements for eligibility, participation, and follow-up services.
  • Document service needs and activities according to data-management procedures.
  • Recruit participants for the program and seek employment and educational opportunities.
  • Conduct community activities related to participant development.
  • Deliver skills training in software applications, work readiness, and basic remedial skills.
  • Develop presentation and facilitation skills to engage students.
  • Connect with employers and community organizations to market the program.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Related Bachelor's degree from an accredited College or University preferred.
  • Past experience working with the targeted population.
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications or online database tracking systems.
  • Must have a valid state driver's license and meet requirements for Eckerd's Auto Insurance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in workforce development or career coaching.
  • Familiarity with the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) services.
