About the position

The Career Coach serves as the primary point of contact for participants in the Eckerd Connects Workforce Development program. This role is essential in meeting regulatory requirements for eligibility, participation, and follow-up services, ensuring that all service needs are documented and fulfilled in accordance with established data-management procedures. The Career Coach is responsible for guiding participants through their employment journey, which includes retention and termination processes, while also maintaining detailed case notes that reflect the activities and arrangements made for each participant. In addition to administrative duties, the Career Coach plays a vital role in recruitment for the program, actively seeking out employment and educational opportunities for participants as they progress. This involves conducting community activities that promote participant development and identifying potential clients and employers who align with the program's goals. The Career Coach is also tasked with delivering skills training in various areas, including software applications, work readiness skills, and basic remedial skills in math and reading. Developing strong presentation and facilitation skills is crucial for engaging students and helping them meet program objectives. Job development is another key responsibility, requiring the Career Coach to connect with employers and community organizations regularly. This engagement is essential for marketing the program and enhancing the success of participants. Overall, the Career Coach must embody the values of Eckerd Connects, demonstrating a passion for serving others and making a meaningful difference in their lives.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for participants and their support networks.
  • Meet regulatory requirements for eligibility, participation, and follow-up services.
  • Document service needs and activities according to data-management procedures.
  • Recruit participants for the program and seek employment and educational opportunities.
  • Conduct community activities related to participant development.
  • Deliver skills training in software applications, work readiness, and basic remedial skills.
  • Develop presentation and facilitation skills to engage students.
  • Connect with employers and community organizations to market the program.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Related Bachelor's degree from an accredited College or University preferred.
  • Past experience working with the targeted population.
  • 3+ years relevant work experience.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications or online database tracking systems.
  • Must have a valid state driver's license and meet requirements for Eckerd's Auto Insurance.
