The Workforce Career Coach serves as the primary point of contact for participants in the workforce development program, ensuring they meet regulatory requirements for eligibility and participation. This role involves maintaining detailed case notes and follow-up services that outline the service needs and activities arranged for participants, focusing on employment, retention, and termination. The Career Coach is responsible for recruiting participants into the program and actively seeking employment and educational opportunities for them as they progress through the program. This includes conducting community activities that promote participant development and identifying potential clients and employers to enhance program outreach. In addition to recruitment, the Career Coach will deliver skills training in various areas, including software applications, work readiness skills, and basic remedial skills in math and reading. The role requires the development of presentation and facilitation skills to effectively engage students and help them meet program goals. Job development is also a key responsibility, which involves frequent connections with employers and community organizations to market the program and support the success of participants. Eckerd Connects provides Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) services through contracts with the U.S. Department of Labor and local workforce boards. The organization focuses on creating career pathways for youth, adults, and dislocated workers, offering a range of training services such as occupational skills training, customized training, and transitional employment opportunities.
