About the position

As a Workforce Career Coach at Eckerd Connects in Laurens, South Carolina, you will play a pivotal role in guiding participants through their career development journey. This position requires a passionate individual who is committed to making a difference in the lives of others. You will serve as the primary point of contact for participants, ensuring they meet regulatory requirements for eligibility and participation. Your responsibilities will include maintaining detailed case notes and follow-up services that address the employment, retention, and termination needs of participants, all while adhering to established data-management procedures set by program management and funding sources. In this role, you will actively recruit participants for the program and seek out employment and educational opportunities as they progress. You will engage with the community by attending and conducting activities that promote participant development, while also identifying and recruiting a target population of clients and employers. A significant aspect of your job will involve delivering skills training in software applications, work readiness skills, and basic remedial skills in math and reading. You will also develop your presentation and facilitation skills to effectively engage students and help them meet program goals. Job development is another key responsibility, where you will connect with employers and community organizations regularly to market the program and enhance the success of participants. This position is not just about providing services; it’s about building relationships and networks that can lead to meaningful employment opportunities for those you serve. Eckerd Connects is dedicated to providing Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) services, which include a variety of training services aimed at creating career pathways for youth, adults, and dislocated workers. You will be part of a team that establishes partnerships with employers and implements industry or sector partnerships to support workforce development.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for participants and their support networks.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for eligibility and participation.
  • Maintain detailed case notes and follow-up services regarding employment, retention, and termination needs.
  • Recruit participants for the program and seek employment and educational opportunities.
  • Conduct community activities related to participant development.
  • Deliver skills training in software applications, work readiness, and basic remedial skills.
  • Develop presentation and facilitation skills to engage students effectively.
  • Connect with employers and community organizations to market the program and enhance participant success.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Related Bachelor's degree from an accredited College or University preferred.
  • Past experience working with the targeted population.
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications or online database tracking systems.
  • Must have a valid state driver's license and meet requirements for Eckerd's Auto Insurance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in workforce development or career coaching.
  • Familiarity with the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) services.
