About the position

The Workforce Development Specialist plays a crucial role in connecting individuals with employment services and fostering relationships with employers and community organizations. This position focuses on enhancing the success of program participants by monitoring employment satisfaction, developing job placements, and ensuring effective communication between all parties involved. The specialist will also engage in community activities to promote the program and its benefits, while maintaining accurate records and tracking placement activities.

Responsibilities

  • Attend and conduct community activities related to employment services.
  • Connect with employers and community organizations to market the program.
  • Maintain regular contact with employers to monitor employment satisfaction.
  • Assist participants in developing assigned subsidized placements and complete Worksite Agreements.
  • Document job duties and follow up with employer/participant surveys to ensure program satisfaction.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with local employers, colleges, military, and social service agencies.
  • Enter data on client and employer activity in internal or state systems.
  • Maintain accurate participant records and perform general clerical functions.
  • Track and report on placement activities.
  • Work with staff to identify job placement concerns and propose solutions.
  • Conduct program marketing activities such as recruitment sessions and job fairs.
  • Understand Labor Market Information and monitor trends in employment.

Requirements

  • Related Bachelor's Degree from an accredited College or University preferred.
  • 2+ years relevant work experience in hiring, training, and managing staff.
  • Past experience working with the targeted population.
  • Excellent people skills and ability to build relationships.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of participants, staff, and community.
  • Basic knowledge of issues affecting people with barriers and disabilities.
  • Valid state driver's license and ability to meet auto insurance requirements.
