About the position

The Workforce Planning Senior Financial Analyst at Cornell University plays a crucial role in enhancing the university's position management framework. This position involves performing various analyses to support the university's position management process, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the position management system, and collaborating with university leadership to align workforce planning with strategic priorities. The analyst will also prepare forecasts and reports to inform institutional practices and support business decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Enhance the position management framework across the university and ensure the integrity and accuracy of the position management system.
  • Leverage technology solutions to create a synchronized approach for tracking position numbers throughout the university.
  • Ensure all positions budgeted are appropriately entered in the position management system and ongoing modifications are made.
  • Strengthen reporting efforts to create long-term workforce management goals considering financial, labor size, and state position impacts.
  • Prepare special analyses and reports for university leadership and/or Board of Trustees to inform institutional practices.
  • Collaborate with the Division of Human Resources and campus leadership to ensure alignment with strategic priorities and create position planning trend reports.
  • Support business decisions through the preparation of timely and accurate forecasts, focusing on maximizing operational efficiencies.
  • Stay current on system data structures and advanced analysis, variance modeling, and forecasting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business, accounting, or related field.
  • Minimum of five to seven years relevant experience or equivalent combination.
  • Proficient oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience interpreting, analyzing, preparing, and presenting data clearly and concisely.
  • Knowledge of automated financial accounting systems and Microsoft Office software.
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.
