About The Position

The Workforce Safety Educator is responsible for educating frontline team members on safe patient handling techniques to reduce workplace injuries. This role involves providing training, maintaining patient handling equipment, and collaborating with staff to ensure safe practices are followed in patient mobility.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience required.
  • 1-2 years of previous patient handling experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Educate frontline team members in safe patient handling techniques.
  • Review and record related incidents and collect mobility metrics.
  • Maintain patient handling equipment and associated soft goods for each patient care unit.
  • Provide education and competency certification for new hires and staff.
  • Offer remedial training for employees returning from injuries related to patient handling.
  • Demonstrate mobility techniques and procedures.
  • Collaborate with frontline staff in mobilizing patients with special mobility needs.
  • Perform incident reviews and after-action reports for patient handling related injury reports.
  • Monitor and collect mobility metrics to ensure safe patient handling procedures are followed.
  • Provide corrective one-on-one mentoring when needed.
  • Attend and report to Safe Patient Handling Mobility and Ergonomics Committee.
  • Maintain supply, security, repair, and inventory of patient lifting equipment and mobility aides.
