About the position

The Workforce Services Specialist at the Kansas Department of Commerce is responsible for providing a comprehensive range of job candidate and employer services. This role involves case management, career guidance, and facilitating connections between job seekers and employers. The specialist will work at the Junction City Workforce Center and is expected to travel within the local area to support workforce initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Provide career guidance and perform case management functions for job seekers.
• Assist customers with job searches, resume preparation, and interview techniques.
• Maintain electronic case files for participants in KANSASWORKS.COM.
• Provide case management services for unemployment insurance claimants.
• Screen customers and make referrals to appropriate partner services.
• Administer online testing to determine job qualifications.
• Solicit new employers to utilize Workforce services and maintain relationships with current employers.
• Conduct housing inspections for the H-2A Foreign Labor Certification Program.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• One year of experience interacting with clients or customers in a social service or customer service setting.
• Valid driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

• One year of experience working with job seekers in a recruitment or job coaching environment.
• Bi-lingual skills are a plus.
• Experience presenting material to groups.
