About the position

The Workforce Skilled Instructor for Cosmetology at Lone Star College is responsible for providing direction, teaching, and support for Cosmetology course objectives. This role contributes to the educational environment by planning, maintaining, assessing, and teaching courses that facilitate student success and learning. The instructor will engage in teaching, advising, and managing classrooms and labs, ensuring compliance with state requirements and assisting with student job placements.

Responsibilities

• Teaches courses in Cosmetology at various times and locations based on institutional needs.
• Implements innovative methodologies and techniques to improve the quality of instruction.
• Develops and uses a syllabus for each course or laboratory in accordance with college guidelines.
• Evaluates student progress towards course objectives and provides timely feedback.
• Identifies students needing additional instruction to successfully complete course objectives.
• Responsible for recruiting and advising students in the Cosmetology program.
• Manages classrooms and labs, ensuring compliance with state requirements.
• Assists with student job placement and works with certification agencies to ensure program success.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Associate degree in a relevant field.
• 3 years of non-teaching work experience in the field of Cosmetology.
• Valid Texas license as a Cosmetology Instructor, Esthetician Instructor, Cosmetology Operator, Esthetician, Cosmetology Operator Practitioner, or Esthetician Practitioner.
