About the position

The Regional Sales Manager for Workholding Products at Mate Precision Technologies is responsible for overseeing the sales activities of the Workholding product line across the Central US territory. This role involves managing independent sales representatives and distribution partners to achieve specific sales goals and objectives. The Central US territory encompasses states such as Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, and Louisiana. In this position, the Regional Sales Manager will partner with industry professionals to gather market feedback and drive rapid market growth. They will implement strategic sales plans that align with both regional and corporate goals, ensuring that sales personnel are well-informed about the company's industry-leading products and services. The manager will also be responsible for training and developing the skills of sales representatives, monitoring key activity metrics, and delivering performance evaluations to ensure that sales programs are effectively executed. The role requires regular fieldwork with dealers, representatives, and distributors to provide training on workholding products and to implement best practices. The Regional Sales Manager will also be tasked with developing and executing strategies to grow market share, delivering product presentations to key customers, and maintaining strong relationships with dealers and customers. Additionally, they will represent Mate at trade association events and open houses, ensuring that the company's presence is felt in the industry.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Workholding product line sales activities in the Central US territory.
  • Partner with industry professionals to provide market feedback and maintain rapid market growth.
  • Implement strategic sales plans to achieve regional and corporate goals.
  • Establish and communicate market knowledge to assist sales personnel with products and services.
  • Manage regional independent representative sales generation activities.
  • Train dealers, representatives, and distributors on workholding products and best practices.
  • Monitor key activity metrics including dealer and end customer acquisition.
  • Deliver training and performance evaluations for independent sales representatives and distributors.
  • Provide regular reporting of key account activities and competitive updates.
  • Develop and implement strategies with sales management to grow market and customer share.
  • Lead activities to ensure goals are met in dealer, OEM, and distribution sales channels.
  • Deliver product presentations to key customers in coordination with dealers and representatives.
  • Meet in person with key customers and dealers to maintain relationships and negotiate projects.
  • Monitor and evaluate the activities and projects of the competition.
  • Represent Mate at trade association events and open houses.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; advanced technical education or a college degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of outside industry sales and/or sales management experience, preferably in the machining and/or machine tool industry.
  • Strong knowledge of machining processes and machine tool operation, ideally with a background as a machinist or direct sales experience with products used by machinists.
  • Experience with zero-point workholding systems and automation integration preferred.
  • Knowledge of MS Office suite and ability to utilize CRM software; familiarity with CAD or programming software is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Leadership characteristics of self-motivation, confidence, intelligence, team-oriented attitude, and a high energy level.
  • Demonstration of a high degree of organizational skills and attention to detail in solving problems and offering solutions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English, both written and verbal is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with zero-point workholding systems and automation integration preferred.
