About the position
The Working Lands Climate Corps Member position is part of the American Climate Corps initiative, aimed at engaging young adults in technical skills training related to climate-smart agriculture and forestry practices. Members will participate in a six-month immersive program that focuses on enhancing the capacity of organizations to promote sustainable agricultural practices, particularly for underserved producers. This role involves hands-on training in diversified vegetable production and cattle operations, contributing to climate resilience initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Complete the Farmer In Training Program, a full-time, six-month immersion in farming and climate resilience initiatives.
- Improve the capacity of organizations to disseminate and demonstrate climate-smart agriculture and forestry practices.
- Conduct field days, create outreach materials, and provide training specifically for underserved producers.
- Receive hands-on training in diversified vegetable production and/or cattle and irrigated hayfield operations.
Requirements
- Be at least 17 years old at the start of service.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent or agree to obtain a high school diploma prior to using the earned education award.
- Be a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States.
- Satisfy the National Service Criminal History Check eligibility criteria.

- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Computer literate.
- College degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
- Reliable transportation & proof of auto insurance.
- Individuals with lived experience are encouraged to apply.
- Prior experience in and/or passion for farming and food production.
- Good driving record.
