About The Position

The Workman's Comp Claims Adjuster at Labor on Demand Inc. is responsible for investigating and evaluating workman's compensation claims to determine coverage, negligence, and liability. This role involves establishing reserves, issuing payments, negotiating settlements, and documenting all claim activities in compliance with regulatory standards. The position requires effective communication with various stakeholders and a thorough understanding of the Texas Tort Claims Act.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • One year of experience investigating, evaluating, reserving, negotiating, and settling claims in workers compensation, casualty, appraising, personal injury, or subrogation.
  • State of Texas Multi-Line Claims Adjusters License or the ability to acquire it within six months of hire.
  • Valid Class 'C' Texas Driver's License.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of general negligence principles and their application within governmental community, particularly the Texas Tort Claims Act.
  • Skill in using a computer and job-related applications.
  • Skill in using various Risk Management Information Systems to document claim activity and maintain claim diary system.

Responsibilities

  • Investigates all relevant facts and evaluates findings to determine coverage, negligence, and liability issues for each workman's compensation claim.
  • Establishes appropriate reserves based on the estimated probable cost of the workman's compensation claim with proper documentation.
  • Issues payments in a timely manner to claimants and vendors in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Negotiates claim settlements for monetary recoveries for damages to SAWS assets.
  • Documents claim file activities in accordance with established procedures.
  • Prepares claims narrative report(s) outlining the facts of the case and recommendations on claim resolution.
  • Communicates effectively with customers including claimants, witnesses, employees, attorneys, medical professionals, governmental entities, and contractors.
  • Determines the value and extent of related damages and/or workers compensation injuries by verifying support documentation and reviewing medical bills.
