Workstation Administrator

About the position

The Workstation Administrator at Colorado State University is responsible for supporting various operating systems including Windows, Apple, and mobile platforms. This role involves managing updates, security patches, user access, and implementing new technologies to enhance the computing environment. The administrator will also provide second-tier support, maintain server hardware, and document processes to ensure a streamlined computing experience for end users.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and deploy monthly Windows, Office, and other software updates for over 2500 workstations.
• Create PowerShell scripts for software deployment to managed computers.
• Act as the primary point of contact for Windows and SCCM related issues.
• Create and update documentation for standardizing installation procedures.
• Create and maintain security groups for network resources and manage printer installations.
• Support server updates and maintain server hardware.
• Assist with data backups and recovery processes.
• Research new technologies and methods for work optimization.
• Implement cloud-based device management solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• One year of professional experience in desktop computer support.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, DHCP, and DNS.
• Ability to document processes and communicate effectively.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with PowerShell scripting and Microsoft Endpoint Manager.
• Familiarity with iOS/macOS/Mobile device management.
• Experience with Cloud Services (Azure/AWS).
• Proficient in programming and custom coding.
• Experience with different file systems such as NFS and SMB.
