About the position

The Workstation Solutions Performance Engineer at Lenovo is responsible for conducting performance analysis on ThinkStation and Thinkpad P-series workstation products. This role involves analyzing various performance metrics, identifying issues, and collaborating with development teams to resolve them. The engineer will also test and document performance for new products, ensuring they meet or exceed the benchmarks set by previous generations.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and review benchmark results to understand performance issues related to hardware, thermal, power, and software/driver/firmware.
  • Execute performance test plans, including building systems and swapping hardware components as needed.
  • Install operating systems, drivers, BIOS, and firmware updates, and run benchmarks to test performance.
  • Present data to the performance team, sales teams, and directly to customers.
  • Conduct performance analysis against competitive products to assess Lenovo's standing in the market.
  • Help develop and maintain tools for documenting and searching benchmark results.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a similar field.
  • Basic understanding of computer architecture.
  • Basic understanding of Windows and/or Linux operating systems, BIOS, and device drivers.
  • 3+ years of work experience in engineering.
