As a Workstation Performance Engineer at Lenovo, you will play a crucial role in the performance analysis of our ThinkStation and ThinkPad P-series workstation products. Your primary responsibility will be to analyze various performance metrics including CPU, memory, GPU, storage (including RAID), and battery life for mobile products. You will identify any performance-related issues and collaborate with development teams to resolve these challenges. For new products entering production, you will be tasked with testing, verifying, and documenting performance metrics in comparison to previous generation products, as well as analyzing performance differences among various configurations (such as CPU and GPU SKU differences). In this role, you will analyze and review benchmark results, gaining a deep understanding of their implications. You will also identify when results may be incorrect or indicative of performance issues related to hardware, thermal, power, or software/driver/firmware problems. Working closely with senior team members, you will help to resolve or clarify these issues. You will execute performance test plans, which will involve building systems, swapping hardware components (CPUs, GPUs, memory, and storage devices), and installing operating systems, drivers, BIOS, and firmware updates. Additionally, you will load and run various benchmarks to assess the performance of the CPU, memory, GPU, storage, and battery. Your role will also involve compiling and presenting data to both the performance team and sales teams, as well as directly to customers. You will conduct performance analysis against competitive products to understand our market position and help develop and maintain departmental tools for documenting and searching benchmark results.
