About the position

The Dallastown Area School District is seeking a dedicated World Language Teacher for Spanish, specifically for grades 7-8. This role involves developing and administering a curriculum that aligns with district goals, fostering a safe and engaging classroom environment, and promoting student success through innovative teaching methods. The teacher will be responsible for lesson planning, student assessment, and maintaining effective communication with students and parents.

Responsibilities

• Develop and administer curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
• Promote a safe and conducive classroom environment for individualized and small-group instruction.
• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials for the subject area.
• Translate lesson plans into learning experiences to challenge students and utilize available instructional time effectively.
• Teach knowledge and skills while promoting creative thinking and analysis.
• Design learning activities that apply to everyday existence and problem-solving.
• Conduct ongoing assessments of student learning and modify instructional methods to fit individual needs.
• Acquire professional knowledge through seminars, workshops, or research.
• Organize and maintain accurate record-keeping, grading, and reporting for student activities and attendance.
• Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents.
• Ensure student conduct conforms to school standards and establish a functional learning atmosphere.
• Coordinate with other professional staff members and participate in faculty meetings and committees.
• Select and requisition appropriate instructional materials and maintain inventory records.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field.
• Valid PA Instructional I or II Teaching Certificate: Spanish PK-12 (4490) required.
• Related teaching experience preferred.
• Willingness to be flexible in teaching assignments within the school setting.
• Completion of all mandated pre-employment documents.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in teaching Spanish at the middle school level.
• Familiarity with current educational developments and teaching methodologies.
