About the position

The World Language Teacher - Spanish at Carthage High School is responsible for delivering a comprehensive educational program that meets the needs of individual students and groups. This role requires a deep understanding of the Spanish language, curriculum standards, and effective teaching practices. The teacher will plan, deliver, and assess lessons that align with New York State Learning Standards, ensuring that all students are engaged and actively participating in their learning process. Responsibilities

• Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of the subject area, curriculum and NYS Learning Standards in assigned content area.
• Prepares necessary instructional practices, materials, and activities.
• Completes thorough lesson plans prior to instruction.
• Delivers instruction supported by meaningful lesson plans, resulting in active student involvement and appropriate teacher/student interaction.
• Utilizes available resources and data to drive instruction.
• Demonstrates classroom management skills supportive of diverse student learning needs.
• Implements assessment techniques based on appropriate NYS Learning Standards designed to measure student progress in learning.
• Reviews practice, effectively assesses, and makes appropriate adjustments on a continuing basis.
• Provides supervision of students both in and outside of the classroom.
• Reports to school on time and maintains confidentiality.
• Actively supports CCSD Code of Conduct and participates in continuous professional growth and development.
• Attends required meetings and follows building rules, procedures and district policies.
• Maintains positive, cooperative and mutually supportive relationships with students, staff, caregivers, colleagues, district personnel and community.
• Uses excellent written and oral English skills when communicating with students, staff, caregivers and community.

Requirements

• NYS Certification Spanish 7-12
• Demonstrated knowledge of student development and diversity
