About the position
The Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) is seeking creative and experienced World Language instructors to join their program. The role involves teaching various world languages at beginning to high-intermediate levels, including Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian, and Spanish. Instructors will have the opportunity to teach in-person classes during the day and evenings at the Catonsville and Essex campuses, as well as in external high school locations and fully asynchronous online classes. Adjunct instructors may teach up to 9 credits and are required to complete necessary employment documentation.
Responsibilities
- Teach world languages at beginning to high-intermediate levels.
- Prepare and deliver engaging lessons in the language taught.
- Assess student performance and provide feedback.
- Complete required documentation for employment.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance the language program.
Requirements
- A Master's Degree in the language taught, Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, or a related field.
- Two years of experience teaching a world language in a college, high school, or accredited language school.
- Experience teaching world language at the college level preferred.
- Strong instructional technology and learning management (LMS) skills.
- Use of Brightspace is strongly preferred.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with online teaching methodologies.
- Familiarity with curriculum development for language courses.
