Responsibilities

• Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner.
• Answers and screens incoming phone calls, directing them to the appropriate area and relaying messages timely.
• Maintains a pleasant and caring attitude when communicating with guests and patients.
• Works collaboratively with leadership to provide accurate and timely projects.
• Models ethical behavior in decision making and maintains confidentiality of medical records.
• Organizes and maintains the department filing system and processes incoming and outgoing mail.
• Suggests ways to improve department services and may participate in the orientation of new employees.
• Keeps updated on current office software and demonstrates knowledge of office equipment.
• Schedules patient appointments in software as trained, following scheduling procedures and standards.
• Checks in/out patients, validating insurance and collecting copays and deductibles.
• Performs daily reconciliation of payments and adjustments against sign-in sheets and encounter forms.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Up to 1 Year of Experience
• Strong Customer Service Skills
• Ability to communicate effectively over the phone and in person
• General clerical skills
• Current knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT-4 coding applications
