About the position

The Supervisor RN Wound Care/Ostomy and Hyperbaric is responsible for providing clinical expertise and leadership within the department, ensuring safety, quality, and effective patient care. This role involves direct patient care and significant leadership responsibilities, including managing a team of caregivers and coordinating operations to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Shares responsibility with the department leader for the day-to-day operations.
  • Integrates with enterprise leadership and teams on goals and improvement initiatives.
  • Manages patient complaints and concerns promptly.
  • Responsible for initial coaching of staff on performance issues.
  • Facilitates communication between inpatient and outpatient wound/ostomy/hyperbaric teams.
  • Ensures cost-effective use of staff by monitoring nurse to patient ratios and utilization of staff.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with the interdisciplinary team in developing evidence-based clinical guidelines and treatment protocols.
  • Participates in community outreach/preventative wound and ostomy services.
  • Assists in gathering data, planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs/projects.
  • Assists with human resource activities such as interviewing, hiring, coaching, mentoring, disciplining, and evaluating staff.
  • Facilitates completion of performance audits in a timely manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.

Requirements

  • Current RN License upon hire
  • Current BLS certification upon hire
  • Current wound certification upon hire or within 1 year of hire
  • Current Ostomy certification or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in acute medical surgical nursing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous high volume clinic experience in an outpatient setting
