About the position

The Wrestling Assistant Coach at Forest Hills Public Schools is responsible for helping student-athletes develop their wrestling skills while promoting values such as discipline, sportsmanship, and self-esteem. This part-time position involves working closely with the Athletic Director and Principal to create a positive and safe environment for student-athletes, ensuring they meet both athletic and academic expectations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and communicate clear and specific goals for the team and individual players.
• Develop the skills of players specific to wrestling.
• Maintain open and honest communication with students, parents, other coaches, and the Athletic Coordinator.
• Establish an environment in which athletes can gain self-esteem and develop a positive self-image.
• Demonstrate a good knowledge base of best practices specific to wrestling.
• Support and collaborate with coaches in other athletic programs.
• Model and teach skills necessary to succeed in wrestling.
• Support student academic expectations, responsibilities, and achievements.
• Understand and apply Forest Hills Public Schools policies and procedures as it applies to athletics.
• Promote and enforce the student-athlete code of conduct.
• Connect athletic experiences with life experiences.
• Provide an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration among coaches and players.
• Model good sportsmanship at all times.
• Create and maintain a safe and healthy environment for student-athletes.
• Understand their leadership style and its impact on student-athletes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Excellent communication skills with parents and students.
• Wrestling and/or coaching experience preferred.
• First aid and CPR knowledge preferred.
