Our company is consistently recognized as a top workplace among firms in the DC area, and we are currently seeking a Technical Writer with TS/SCI clearance and a polygraph to join our team in Annapolis Junction, MD. This position will report directly to the Contract Program Manager. The Technical Writer will be responsible for the preparation, review, revision, and maintenance of various technical documents, including those related to software and systems engineering, system operations, testing, and user documentation. The role involves writing and editing technical documentation for all project hardware and software, which includes installation, configuration, and how-to documentation. Additionally, the Technical Writer will create code documentation for software, produce implementation guides and end-user guides, and provide field, data definition, and data flow documentation. The position requires formatting technical publications from pamphlets, technical drawings, and consultations with technical personnel and other available resources. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of basic grammar concepts and be responsible for writing technical copy for various types of documents. They will assist in preparing and maintaining operations documentation, user guides, manuals, and technical publications. The Technical Writer will gather technical information and prepare written text, potentially maintaining a current internal documentation library. Proficiency in multiple word processing and presentation tools such as MS Word, PowerPoint, and Visio is essential. The candidate will also be responsible for preparing reports, responses, and briefings targeted to a wide range of audiences, working closely with developers to produce quality documentation and training materials, and coordinating the layout and design of documents. This role encompasses all phases of documentation and requires the application of technical writing concepts based on engineering drawings and technical information from various sources.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Six years of experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity within the Federal Government is required.
  • Four years of additional technical writing experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Strong understanding of basic grammar concepts and technical writing principles.
  • Proficiency in word processing and presentation tools such as MS Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
