About the position

The Borgen Project is seeking a passionate individual for the Writer/Journalist Internship, a remote opportunity focused on content creation for BORGEN Magazine and The Borgen Project Blog. This internship is designed for those who are eager to make a difference in the world, particularly in the areas of poverty alleviation and advocacy. The role requires a commitment of 12 hours per week over a 12-week period, although candidates with limited availability can complete the program in fewer weeks by working ahead. This is an unpaid internship, but college credit is available for those who qualify. Interns will engage in various responsibilities that include article writing, researching relevant topics, and assisting with The Borgen Project's advocacy efforts. Additionally, interns will play a role in fundraising by creating personal fundraising campaigns and meeting specified targets. The Borgen Project has a rich history of working at the political level to improve living conditions for individuals affected by war, famine, and poverty, having supported the passage of numerous bills that have positively impacted nearly 500 million people in developing countries over the past 20 years. The organization values diversity and seeks individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, emphasizing that high GPAs or prestigious educational backgrounds do not necessarily correlate with the potential to make a significant impact. The selection process is competitive, focusing on candidates with a strong work ethic and a genuine passion for social justice. Interns will work remotely, with weekly deadlines and online meetings to discuss progress and updates.
