About the position

The Borgen Project is seeking a passionate individual for the Writer/Journalist Internship, a remote position focused on content creation for BORGEN Magazine and The Borgen Project Blog. This internship is designed for those who are eager to make a difference in the world, particularly in the areas of poverty alleviation and advocacy. The role requires a commitment of 12 hours per week over a 12-week period, although candidates with limited availability can complete the program in fewer weeks by working ahead. This is an unpaid internship, but college credit is available for those who qualify. Interns will engage in various responsibilities that include article writing, researching relevant topics, assisting with advocacy efforts, and participating in fundraising initiatives. A key component of the internship is creating a personal fundraising campaign and meeting specific targets, which will help develop skills in both writing and advocacy. The Borgen Project values diversity and encourages individuals from all backgrounds to apply, emphasizing that prior experience is not necessary. Instead, the organization seeks candidates who are passionate about fighting poverty and making a positive impact, regardless of their academic background. The Borgen Project has a rich history of working at the political level to improve living conditions for those affected by war, famine, and poverty. With over 20 years of experience, the organization has successfully supported the passage of numerous bills that have positively impacted nearly 500 million people in developing countries. Interns will be part of a dedicated team that meets weekly deadlines, participates in online meetings, and submits progress updates to ensure accountability and growth throughout the internship.
