WY Sagebrush Ecologist

About the position

The WY Sagebrush Ecologist plays a crucial role in conserving the sagebrush ecosystem in Wyoming by providing technical and scientific support. This position involves collecting, managing, and analyzing data to prioritize conservation actions, conducting scientific surveys, and developing proposals to coordinate conservation programs. The ecologist will work in challenging conditions and collaborate with various partners to address the threats to the sagebrush biome, particularly invasive species.

Responsibilities

• Conducting semi-structured interviews
• Conducting spatial analyses
• Designing field data collection plans
• Collecting, managing, and analyzing field data
• Supervising field technicians
• Preparing written reports and/or scientific papers
• Building partner relationships, co-producing work plans with partners, and reporting back to them

Requirements

• Master's Degree in a science-related field and 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience collecting, manipulating, analyzing, and interpreting scientific data
• Experience preparing reports of findings

Nice-to-haves

• Multi-language skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience
• Experience designing and conducting ecological and/or social research
• Spatial data skills
