The WY Sagebrush Ecologist at The Nature Conservancy (TNC) plays a crucial role in conserving the sagebrush ecosystem in Wyoming. This position involves collecting, managing, and analyzing data to prioritize conservation actions, conducting scientific surveys, and coordinating conservation programs. The ecologist will work in challenging environments and collaborate with various partners to implement research and outreach initiatives aimed at managing invasive species and protecting the sagebrush biome.

  • Conducting semi-structured interviews to gather data.
  • Conducting spatial analyses to assess ecological conditions.
  • Designing field data collection plans for research.
  • Collecting, managing, and analyzing field data related to sagebrush ecosystems.
  • Supervising field technicians during data collection activities.
  • Preparing written reports and/or scientific papers based on research findings.
  • Building relationships with partners and co-producing work plans.
  • Master's Degree in a science-related field and 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in collecting, manipulating, analyzing, and interpreting scientific data.
  • Experience in preparing reports of findings.
  • Multi-language skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience.
  • Experience designing and conducting ecological and/or social research.
  • Spatial data skills for ecological analysis.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken forms.
  • Knowledge of western North American ecosystems and/or invasion ecology.
