About the position

WZVN, the ABC affiliate in Fort Myers, Florida, is seeking a Multimedia Journalist who excels in storytelling. This unique role involves uncovering and sharing compelling stories from the Southwest Florida community, fostering emotional connections with viewers. The successful candidate will be proactive in networking for stories, ensuring that each report is original and engaging, rather than relying on press releases.

Responsibilities

• Gather information for stories and live reports for newscasts, including mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Put together extremely high-quality packages.
• Collaborate with reporters on packages, special reports, and documentaries.
• Develop sources, create story ideas, and produce content on-air, online, and across all digital platforms.
• In-person attendance is required.

Requirements

• Extraordinary storyteller with professional or schooling experience in television news reporting, photography, and editing.
• Creative writer and editor capable of delivering authentic content that connects with viewers.
• Ability to provide samples of reporting and photography.
• Experience developing local contacts and shooting/editing high-quality video.
• Ability to handle the stresses and pressures of time-sensitive newscast production.
• Related military experience will be considered.
