About the position

WZVN, the ABC affiliate in Fort Myers, Florida, is seeking a Multimedia Journalist who excels in storytelling. This unique role involves uncovering and sharing compelling stories from the Southwest Florida community, fostering emotional connections with viewers. The successful candidate will be proactive in networking for stories, avoiding reliance on press releases, and will report directly to the News Director.

Responsibilities

• Gather information for stories and live reports for newscasts, which may include mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Put together extremely high-quality packages.
• Collaborate with reporters on packages, special reports, and documentaries.
• Develop sources, create story ideas, and produce content for on-air, online, and all digital platforms.
• In-person attendance is required.

Requirements

• Extraordinary storyteller with a passion for journalism.
• Professional or educational experience in television news reporting, photography, and editing.
• Creative writing and editing skills.
• Ability to deliver authentic content that connects with viewers.
• Must provide samples of reporting and photography.
• Experience developing local contacts.
• Experience shooting and editing high-quality video.
• Ability to handle the stresses and pressures of time-sensitive newscast production.
• Related military experience will be considered.
