About the position

The X-Ray Level III position at Precision Castparts Corp. involves ensuring quality and accountability in manufacturing processes. The role requires the ability to meet deadlines, work flexible hours, and maintain a strong attendance record. The incumbent will work in a team-oriented environment, demonstrating a strong sense of urgency and self-motivation. Responsibilities include inspecting, testing, and sorting parts for defects, using precision measuring instruments and complex test equipment. The position also entails handling hazardous waste in accordance with safety protocols and interpreting various codes and standards related to NDT methods. The individual will be responsible for the technical oversight of the NDT facility, including training and certifying personnel, and ensuring compliance with customer NDT requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, test, and sort parts for defects and deviations from specifications.
  • Use precision measuring instruments and complex test equipment.
  • Handle hazardous waste in accordance with the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and company policy.
  • Interpret codes, standards, requirements, and other contractual documents controlling NDT methods.
  • Assume technical responsibility for the NDT facility and staff.
  • Select methods and techniques for specific inspections.
  • Prepare and verify the adequacy of NDT procedures and work instructions.
  • Approve NDT procedures and work instructions for technical accuracy.
  • Provide or direct approval, training, examination, and certification of personnel.
  • Conduct NDT for the acceptance of parts and document results.
  • Audit outside agencies to ensure compliance with written practices.
  • Train and examine NDT personnel.
  • Identify and assure implementation of customer NDT requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere through effective communication.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year experience as an operator in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous casting experience is a plus.
  • Ability to handle high stress associated with high activity and tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to devote personal time toward studying for Level III certification.
  • Pass visual acuity examination.
