About the position

The X-Ray Technician at BronxCare Health System is responsible for performing high-quality radiographs on various patients, including in-patients, emergency room patients, and private outpatients. This role involves ensuring patient comfort, maintaining cleanliness in the radiology environment, and adhering to safety protocols, including the use of lead shielding. The technician will also handle clerical tasks related to patient records and assist in the operation of radiology equipment.

Responsibilities

• Performs and obtains high quality radiographs on all patients.
• Utilizes lead shielding where appropriate in accordance with departmental policies.
• Transports patients to and from X-Ray rooms as required.
• Assists the Radiologist with hard-to-move patients when requested.
• Utilizes all X-ray equipment permitted within the scope of their license and training.
• Effectively utilizes the hospital computer system as it pertains to job responsibilities.
• Delivers assessment, treatment, and patient care with knowledge of patient growth and development appropriate to the ages of the patients served.
• Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
• Develops all X-rays when required.
• Provides patient comfort (e.g., bedpans, blankets) as required.
• Performs required clerical work to maintain patient records.
• Maintains a clean and orderly environment in the Radiology Room, Radiology Equipment, and Radiology Accessories.
• Informs appropriate personnel when equipment is in need of repair.

Requirements

• Completion of approved course of study in Radiology/X-Ray (Required)
• At least one (1) year of experience as an X-Ray Technician
• New York State License as X-Ray Technician (Legally Required)
• Computer literate (Required)
