About the position
The Radiologic Technologist at Ochsner Health is responsible for assessing patients and performing routine radiographic procedures while adhering to safety protocols. This role also includes serving as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students, ensuring high-quality patient care and compliance with regulatory standards. The position offers a sign-on bonus for eligible candidates and requires a commitment to patient safety and effective communication.
Responsibilities
- Verifies physician order and procedure to ensure accuracy.
- Uses radiology information systems to facilitate care.
- Explains procedure to patient to ensure understanding.
- Independently operates equipment to complete imaging procedure according to protocol.
- Reviews patient images prior to transmission to ensure images meet diagnostic quality standards.
- Completes timely quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Assists in the facilitation of departmental operations, including inventory and staff schedules.
- Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, ensuring respect for privacy and effective communication.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Requirements
- Completion of an approved radiologic technology program.
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) or registry eligible, with registration required within 90 days of employment.
- Current unrestricted license in the state of practice.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule.
