About the position

The XR/CT Technologist - Medical Imaging position at University Health Truman Medical Center involves day-to-day clinical, technical, and operational functions within a CT department. The role requires collaboration with supervisors and lead techs to coordinate activities across all CT departments, ensuring proper patient flow and staff coverage. Responsibilities include the efficient procurement and utilization of resources, compliance with patient care quality standards, and participation in performance improvement activities. The CT Tech is also responsible for performing diagnostic x-ray procedures and must maintain compliance with all regulatory laws and standards. The position requires critical thinking skills and the ability to produce quality images according to established protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day clinical, technical, and operational functions within the CT department.
  • Collaborate with supervisor/lead tech to coordinate activities of all CT departments.
  • Ensure compliance with patient care quality standards for all age groups.
  • Participate in performance improvement and CQI activities.
  • Perform diagnostic x-ray procedures as part of regular duties.
  • Maintain efficient department operations while complying with regulatory standards.
  • Develop, interpret, and administer CT-related policies and procedures.
  • Create and maintain relationships with facility stakeholders.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduation from an AMA Radiologic Technology Program.
  • Registered in good standing with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Board certified in a specialty (ARRT (R), ARRT (CT)).
  • Ability to perform diagnostic x-ray procedures.
  • Knowledge of human anatomy, disease processes, and patient care.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs to assist and move patients.
  • Ability to operate a computer and input/retrieve data.

Nice-to-haves

  • Minimum of 1 year CT tech experience in an acute setting.
  • BCLS certification (must be obtained within 90 days if not already certified).
  • ACLS certification preferred.
  • Adaptability and effective communication skills with patients and healthcare team.
