About the position

The Y Club Assistant Site Supervisor plays a crucial role in managing the day-to-day operations of a before and after school program within the Shawnee Mission School District. This position focuses on creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for children in kindergarten through sixth grade, promoting their social growth and academic enhancement in accordance with YMCA standards and state licensing requirements. The role requires the individual to assist in various administrative and supervisory tasks while ensuring compliance with safety and educational standards.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares weekly/monthly activity plans for the program according to established educational and environmental standards.
  • Collects and helps maintain accurate family accounts.
  • Ensures punctuality and dependability in scheduled work hours.
  • Assists in monitoring staff hours and adjustment forms in a timely manner.
  • Manages staff-to-child ratios within licensing standards and YMCA policies.
  • Communicates supply and equipment requests accurately and timely.
  • Operates the program in a safe and purposeful manner, meeting or exceeding all licensing and YMCA guidelines.
  • Maintains accurate attendance, financial, and sign-in/sign-out records, following up on absent children.
  • Maintains all required paperwork for licensing and YMCA compliance.
  • Adheres to YMCA policies and site-specific supervision systems.
  • Communicates important program issues and information to supervisors and site staff.
  • Performs duties of Site Supervisor during their absence, if called upon.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development, Psychology, or sufficient college coursework/credits.
  • Six months to one year of experience to meet state licensing requirements for Director Approval.
  • Qualifications for a qualified director in the State of Kansas, holding a license for the program's capacity.
  • Understanding and application of principles of quality school-age development and programming.
  • Public relations and leadership skills for working with parents, school staff, and licensing representatives.
  • Sensitivity to diverse family, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Physical stamina, alertness, and emotional stability for active involvement with children.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Commitment to providing quality child care services at all levels.
  • Knowledge of state licensing standards and commitment to adhere to them.
