About the position

The Y Club Site Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a before and after school program within the Shawnee Mission School District. This role focuses on creating a supportive and engaging environment for children, fostering their development and social interactions while ensuring compliance with state regulations. The supervisor will also build positive relationships with families and school administrators, contributing to a nurturing community atmosphere.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures the safety and wellbeing of the children by operating the program in a safe and purposeful manner.
  • Knows and complies with state child care licensing regulations.
  • Prepares weekly/monthly activity plans and snack menus according to educational and environmental standards established by state licensing and the Y.
  • Maintains financial records, collects and monitors bi-weekly fee payment process for site, including accounts receivables.
  • Distributes a professional site newsletter and calendar on a monthly basis.
  • Organizes and meets fundraising site goal and actively recruits at least one parent volunteer from the program to assist with meeting the goal.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development, Psychology, or a related field, or sufficient college coursework/credits and a minimum of six months experience to meet state licensing requirements for Director Approval.
  • Qualifications to obtain a Program Director's approval in the state of Kansas or Missouri, holding a license for the capacity of the site.
  • Minimum of six months experience in understanding and applying the principles of school-age development and programming in a before and after school program, one year for multi-site.
  • Relationship building and leadership skills.
  • Sensitivity to clientele and associates representing a variety of family, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Active involvement with and supervision of children requiring physical stamina, alertness, and emotional stability.
  • Commitment and desire to provide quality school age programming.
