About the position

The Senior NBA Analyst at Yahoo Sports is responsible for providing in-depth analysis and commentary on the NBA, contributing to various media formats including podcasts and videos, and maintaining a strong social media presence to promote Yahoo Sports' content. This role requires a blend of sports journalism expertise, creativity, and collaboration with diverse teams to enhance coverage around key NBA events.

Responsibilities

• Provide analysis and commentary on the NBA that can be leveraged on and off platform.
• Host and contribute to Yahoo Sports NBA podcast and video franchises.
• Maintain an active presence on multiple social-media platforms and collaborate with social team to promote Yahoo Sports' coverage and content.
• Create and shape shoulder content around tentpole events like NBA Draft, playoffs, trade deadline and free agency.

Requirements

• At least five years experience in sports media/journalism.
• Minimum five years experience covering the NBA.
• Minimum three years experience hosting podcast and/or digital video show.
• Strong news judgment and ability to develop a network of contacts and sources.
• Strong writing, grammar, and communication skills, and an understanding of the 'tone' of the internet.
• Social media experience on X and Instagram, and a willingness to explore other rising social platforms.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with the NBA's top news makers, from players to executives to agents.
• Exhibit comfort level in conducting on-camera interviews.
• Ability to work with multiple editors and writers on projects.
