About the position
The Yard Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the movement of materials within the shop yard, ensuring a safe and organized work environment. This role involves checking in and receiving units, taking photographs of units ready for shipping, and collaborating with the transportation department to prepare equipment for transport.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and well-organized work environment in the yard area.
- Check in units arriving in the yard and process initial receiving paperwork.
- Provide direction to heavy equipment operators to load, unload, and transfer equipment safely and timely.
- Take photographs of units ready to ship.
- Work with the transportation department to load equipment for transportation and ensure compliance with shipping procedures.
- Monitor the integrity of all trucks, trailers, and forklifts assigned to the yard and request routine repairs and maintenance of assigned equipment.
- Fill in for Equipment Operator as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Typically at least some experience with material handling in a similar environment.
- Ability to perform all essential duties.
- Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate basic computer and picture taking proficiency.
- Operate facility equipment (forklifts and man-lift).
- Knowledge of equipment being operated and being moved.
- Knowledge of safe material handling processes.
- Knowledge of inventory and material control processes.
