About the position

The Yard Driver/Forklift Operator at DSV plays a crucial dual role in ensuring the efficient movement and management of trailers and inventory within the warehouse. This position involves operating forklifts to handle merchandise, maintaining safety and compliance standards, and collaborating with warehouse personnel to meet customer needs effectively.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a neat and orderly storage lot to maximize efficiency in servicing customer needs.
• Account for records involving trailer numbers and vehicle positions.
• Interact daily with warehouse supervisors and comply with safety requirements.
• Communicate courteously and professionally with operations and warehouse personnel using cellular phones or 2-way radios.
• Maneuver trucks into loading and unloading positions, following signals from the loading crew.
• Inspect and perform minor maintenance on equipment daily.
• Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse and yard.
• Unload inbound shipments safely and move products to storage locations, inputting data accurately into WMS.
• Efficiently stack and store products in appropriate areas.
• Pull and prepare products for shipment, ensuring accuracy in quantity and type.
• Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage.
• Move products from staging/storage to production lines/staging docks efficiently.
• Keep appropriate records to maintain tight inventory control and security.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area, complying with safety rules and procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 6 months of experience in a logistics/distribution environment.
• Ability to operate Material Handling Equipment (MHE).
• Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program.
• Basic computer skills, including RF scanners and WMS functions.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in job tasks.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
• Clean driving record required.

Nice-to-haves

• 1-2 years of experience in a warehouse/logistics/distribution environment.
• 1-2 years of forklift experience.
• Current or prior MHE certification.
