About The Position

The Yard Driver, Non-CDL plays a crucial role in the food supply chain by ensuring the timely and safe transportation of tractor trailers within the company's property. This position involves moving trailers to and from loading docks, parking them in designated areas, and maintaining communication with customers and co-workers. The role is essential for supporting the operations of the business and requires adherence to safety regulations and company policies.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent
• 6+ months driving experience (Internal candidates may be promoted with less than 6 months experience with good performance record in accordance with driver training program requirements)
• Must be able to work the scheduled, assigned times and required overtime for the position
• Valid non-commercial driver's license
• Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable)
• Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years
• Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
• Pass road test
• Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift; product generally ranges from between 10-35 pounds and up to between approximately 60 and 90 pounds, depending on the location.

Nice To Haves

• 1+ years Foodservice distribution industry experience
• Onboard computer and electronic log system experience (i.e., PeopleNet)

Responsibilities

• Performs inspections and moves trailers safely following all DOT regulations and company safe-driving policies.
• Fuels, moves, and parks tractors and trailers to the docks.
• Transports tractor trailers to offsite maintenance and/or inspection facilities; requires local city driving.
• Secures trucks, trailers, and equipment always. Completes all required documentation.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
