About the position

The Yard Supervisor at the Elementary School is responsible for supervising students during lunch periods, ensuring a safe and orderly environment. This part-time position involves monitoring student behavior, enforcing school rules, and attending to minor injuries while promoting courtesy and safety among children.

Responsibilities

• Supervises students during the lunch period at the lunch tables, in the Multipurpose room, restrooms, and on the playground and school grounds.
• Enforces school rules on campus and completes referrals as needed.
• Reports special behavior problems and works with the school principal if a behavior log is needed.
• Encourages and promotes courtesy among children.
• Observes and assures that safety rules are followed.
• Attends to minor injuries on the playground or directs students to the office for additional care as needed.
• Observes contents of lunches and has knowledge of severe allergies to watch for allergic reactions.
• Supervises students in assigned classroom(s) during lunch recess on rainy days.
• Maintains awareness of campus and surroundings; refers adults without visitor badges to the office; and reports any unusual circumstances.
• Uses the identified communication process to report incidents on the yard to the office.
• Maintains playground first aid supplies and safety equipment (i.e. fanny packs, ice cooler, orange vests, whistles, etc.)

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Experience working with children is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in first aid is a plus.
